The Company:

Hokkaido Tracks has been proudly offering holiday rental, real estate, project management and property management services in Niseko for over 15 years. In winter, we take on a small team of seasonal staff to work closely with our permanent staff to provide superior customer service. Understanding our seasonal employees also want to balance work with time to enjoy the snow, we offer competitive conditions and time on the mountain.

The Position:

Our Resort Host staff are often the first to meet our holiday guests when they arrive in Niseko, driving them to their accommodation, checking them in, and answering any questions. Resort Hosts provide continued shuttle van service during the guest stay, including at check-out time. The position also involves checking and preparing accommodation for guests before arrival and assisting our Front Desk and Reservations teams to provide excellent customer service to our holiday guests. Regular tasks include:

  • Checking properties before guest arrival to ensure they are prepared to a professional standard and in line with guest expectation.
  • Meeting guests upon arrival at the Hirafu Welcome Center and safely driving them to their accommodation.
  • Checking guests into their accommodation, ensuring paperwork is completed correctly, explaining the accommodation features and local points of interest for guests.
  • Safely transporting guests and luggage from accommodation to the Welcome Center at checkout time.
  • Random jobs including luggage delivery, setting up baby gates in properties, etc.

The Candidate

To be successful in this position you will need:

  • Valid work visa or be a Japanese resident
  • International or Japanese Driver’s license
  • Native English skills or business-level English as a second language
  • Customer service experience
  • Japanese or Chinese language skills are an advantage but not required


  • Working hours: Average 35 hours/week
  • Short employment: Late November – late February
  • Full season: Late November – April


  • Pay: Y1,200 - Y1,300 (depending on skills and experience) / hour
  • 25% pay loading for any work undertaken between 10 pm – 5 am
  • Unlimited fibre optic internet WIFI at the staff accommodation

  • Newly reduced rental costs inclusive of all utilities:
    • Y35,000 / person / month for a 3-4 person quad room
    • Y45,000 / person / month for a 2 person room
    • Y55,000 / person / month for a single room
  • End of season bonus of Y100,800 payable valued at the Grand Hirafu season pass (includes Hanazono Resort) at the completion of the contract.
  • 35-hour workweek on average meaning a chance to ski or snowboard daily
  • 50% of your rent will be deducted from your pre-taxed income instead of post-tax, meaning a saving of between Y5,500 – Y3,500 per month.
  • Comfortable shared accommodation in a genuinely Japanese town of Kutchan only 10 mins away from work with scheduled commutes and hourly town buses.
