Hokkaido Tracks was established by three people from diverse backgrounds who shared a passion for skiing, a fascination with Niseko, it’s abundant powder snow, and a vision to introduce a hospitality and an accommodation model based on a common concept in the ski resorts they had visited internationally. These individuals were Matt Dening, and Simon and Joasia Robinson. The three established Hokkaido Tracks in 2003 and, going against advice, built the area’s first western style apartment: First Tracks, a ski-in, ski-out 4-unit complex. The apartment complex was a first for Niseko. Stylish and chic, it combined bold modern colours, a state of the art kitchen and electrical appliances, and contemporary furnishings that reflected both western and Japanese influences. The apartments sold upon completion and have remained some of the highest demand rental properties in Niseko. Building them was a smart decision, and some say, the catalyst for discovery of Niseko by the world ski market.
